On Sunday morning, I finally got around to upgrading our forums from 3.6 (I think) to 3.8.6 Patch Level 1. Now, when I use the "quick reply" box to make a post, characters like % (percent) and ? (degree) are not posting correctly. Instead, they post like this (but without the spaces I had to put in between the & and ; just to get the thing to post properly here):
Code:
& #37 ; & #176 ; And once they are posted properly in a thread, if I edit that post and simply hit save changes (without actually make any changes), the symbols will get messed up again! Very strange. Can someone point me to where I can report this bug? Any chance it would get fixed or is 3.8 off into "barely maintenance mode" now? |

I've attached a picture to illustrate, just for clarity.

OK, never mind. I guess. I finally found a few other people posting about the same problem and the "solution" was to simply revert includes/class_core.php back to the version from the 3.8.5 tarball. That works fine. So I guess I'm back in a "good" state now.
Although it still seems a little strange to me because the posts that *were* mangled before depending on how they were posted up are now displaying OK. So I have to think the actual text in the database is different depending on how the post was made and that the display-side of things is what's trying to fix (or not) the difference. |
