I'd probably buy neither considering they'll both be bankrupt and out of business before the warranty expires.

Right now our car is a Chrysler. Chrysler isn't in better shape but at least our warranty is long gone. If I were to buy a new car it would be Honda, Toyota or VW. Maybe a Saturn if GM sells the brand off to someone who can keep it alive.

As much as I hate to say it, Nissan or Toyota makes the best trucks. I own a Dodge Ram 1500 that has been a great truck but it only has 24K miles on it and the dash has already cracked to pieces (2001 model). I traded a 1985 Toyota SR5 with over 200K miles for it and it was running strong. Owned a Nissan truck once and it was a great truck too. Family vehicle is an '06 Grand Caravan...second one we've owned and a really great vehicle.

for any company, the revolution will not be on small cars but on family vehicules... there is no eco-car that have more than 5 passengers... i use the 7 seats fully now, and we plan on having more, so we look at a mini-bus... lol

Interesting - I own a 2001 Chevy Cavalier and the same has happened to it as well.

Choosing between only Ford or Chevy trucks, I would choose Ford. We utilize an older model Ford pickup and own a 2005 Ford Freestar and given the track record between the two brands on personal experience, it would stand to reason that I choose Ford. Every Chevy I've driven - or owned (from the 88' Chevy Silverado) to what we have left has been an utter disappointment. They just don't last. They equate to the Energizer batteries around here. You can buy a sixteen pack of 'AA' batteries and use them faster than a four-pack of Duracells. I drove a 2008 Chevy Silverado for two weeks and although it looked nice, I couldn't see myself owning it for the drive nor for the gas usage. This all comes from personal experience and others' mileage may vary. (Pun intended).

Don't know about the Cavalier but in researching my model before buying, this apparently is a well documented issue with that year model...maybe the dashboards came from the same supplier?
