have you tried doing a conditional?

Find someplace where you want to start the font color change and do this:

<if condition="is_member_of($post, X)"><FONT COLOR="#YYYYYY">

where X represents the usergroup and YYYYYY represents your font color. Then, find someplace where you want to end the font color change and do this.
