I am not part of this site or get cash for this info, but I thought it would help, so I am sharing the info.
One of the few things we don't like about iPods is the battery you can't replace. After about 18 months, plan to send your iPod back to Apple wrapped in a $100 bill--that's about the time you'll need a new battery, because the old one will have crapped out. If that rankles you like it does me, check out ipodbattery.com. Not only does it have replacement iPod batteries for every iPod made, the prices are nice and the photo tutorials on taking your iPod apart are absolutely exemplary. If assembling a piece of IKEA furniture takes you all day (and it still leans funny when you're done), then this project isn't for you. Otherwise, you'll save money and get the satisfaction of not being treated like a child. iPod series. 4th generation 2004 series More Details Installation Instructions iPod series. For what it's worth, rumors of iPod batteries dying after 18 months are greatly blown out of proportion. For it to happen, you have to use your iPod every single day for the full charge. Virtually nobody does this.
Also Apple recently and quietly reduced the price of their battery replacement program. |

And recalled a lot of them for this reason.
My 8 hr battery lasts for *maybe* 4 hrs, after about 30 minutes it pauses every few minutes. |

Does your PSP hold 20 GB of music out of the box like my iPod does? A PSP is in a completely different market than an iPod, which so many people just don't seem to grasp. They're not competing products.

Pfft, PSP. What can it hold? 128mb of songs? A portable game console can't replace a iPod I'm afraid, or any large scale music storage portable player.
Considering all the money you save from not having to put real batteries into the iPod, the amount you pay for a battery replacement isn't that bad, although, still a bit expensive. |
