chdir back and forth within one page?

What I am trying to do is use vBexternal on my main page...

What my problem is with changing directory to the /forum directory.

Right now I start the change directory at the start of my middle column. What this does though is cause the center, right column and foot to be included in the directory change. I then have to move the right column and footer pages to the forum directory so they are called correctly.

What would be nice is to be able to set the forum directory for the piece of code I am executing on the centercolumn.php page and then end it directly after the code vbextrenal code is called and reset it back to the httpdocs root folder.

Understand what I am saying? I think this is effecting my google ads on this page as well.
