Hi, i got a little question, i'm currently messing around a little with VBB and another site on the same server. I have a test user with a simple password.

Now i'm wanting to give some users permission to post newsmessages on the site, which is something like a frontpage for VBB.

Problem is, i'm not really a fan of a double login system (one for VBB and one for the site). So i was wondering if there is any way i could combine these, to use VBB's encrypted password system.

I have searched the forum, and found that the password can't be decrypted 'cause of the MD5 encryption algorythm. But how the does the forum check if you are using the right pwd ? Just by encrypting your pwd and check if it's the same as the one in the DB ?

Please help me with this

I haven't got a valid account there, i'm using the software that was given to me by a friend. He didn't want to give me any of his license information (which i can imagine), but i'm willing to buy the software after i succeeded in my goals, otherwise i'm not sure if VBB will suit my webpage (which will be a very basic code, though i will probably make it freeware - heck it's just a bunch of code).

So i'd like to get some help other then the message to go to a part of the forum i can not view because i'm still in the development phase. You don't buy a car if you don't now if it'll fit in your garage.

Sorry but you are running an illegal version of vB and we cannot help you do that. Once you purchase the software we'll be able to help.

So tell me, you'd buy 10 cars, then decide which one is best and then sell all the others ? Kinda ridiculous isn't it.

But, i'd like to say something to the illegal thing, i'm running the board locally, it's not public and purily for educational goals (figuring out if the software fits in the package).

I'm afraid thats the way it is. There are however many hacks that allow you to integrate non vB pages with vB and the vB user table, so I'm pretty confident that its 100% posible to do what you want.

If you are registered you get access to the 100's of thousands of modifications for vb, and I am sure there is one that does what you are asking.
