I may be planning to move servers next year. I was just wondering, has anyone experienced any trouble with their vB after the move?
Im just worried about the modifications becasue in some threads Ive seen here, some modifications dont work after the move. Is this a common issue? Also, what is the procedure? How will the database be moved. Does moving the forum folder simply consist of copy and pasting the forum folder onto the new server and updating the config file? |

shouldn't be as long as your php/sql versions are the same. the idea would be to recreate the original enviroment.
pretty much on the files... i'd just zip em up in ssh and wget them on the other end. database...same proceedure too really. |

So everything should run exactly the same as if they were where they are right now...
As for SHH, my currentl host doesnt support it. FTP is unreliable from my experience. Sometimes it misses out files, I tried to download a style the otehr day via FTP from my server, half the files werent there. |
