Hello guys, I'm as noob as it gets to hacking. Basically, I have a mission: I want users to be able to rate other's posts (kind of like the "rate thread" option, but just on individual posts instead). The first part of this mission will require having an image that says "rate" that will appear in each post beside the "edit" image and "quote" image in the showthread.php.

Now excuse my ignorance, but what is a template? I want to do this hacking mission in bits and pieces, I know there will be lots of studying and testing along the way, but my first task is to simply get that "rate.gif" showing up. Does anybody have any advice?

well your gonna need to add an image (Create the image)and the upload it somewhere on your server and then you will have to have a link to the image somewhere in your postbit templates.

You could try reading the manual. Then you can follow up with reading the forum rules (This forum is not for questions - it's even in bold text on the forum description). Reading comprehension is key if you are ever to learn how to program in any language.

Well, I'm sure the Moderator can move this thread over. In fact, I noticed the announcement only after you mentioned it. It has nothing to do with reading comprehension, my mind most likely dismissed it as some kind of advertisement trying too hard to seek attention. Maybe if it said "POSTING RULES:" instead of "announcement:" I may have seen it.

Anyways Shadiguy1, I tried the image thing and it worked! YAY.
