Login form on forumdisplay

How do I add a simple login form on the forum display? You know just like how it works on the forum index where it has the two little boxes for username and password and when you are already logged in it shows a "logout" link.

The problem is that my users hate the forum index. They don't ever want to look at it. There is only one forum and when the come to the site they want to imediately see the list of messages on that forum. Theydon't want to click to get to the forum. And they always keep posting as unregistered and getting upset because there is a quick reply box and no way to quickly see if they are already logged in or not.

tag from the forumhome template to the forumdispaly template but it just got all screwed up. Please help.
