Are you an active participant on the forum(s) you own?
Note: Own, and not admin. Administrating a forum is completely different from owning it, being just an administrator means you must have a high level of participance or activity.
I think it's quite sad how on many forums, the owner doesn't participate often. It really does reflect on the type/quality of the community sometimes.
On my forum [..that I own], I post at least 10 times a day. The members know who I am well, and know that the place HAS an owner, and WHO the owner IS! Another sad fact is that on many forums, people don't know who the owner is, and even if they do, have never seen him/her post.
I think it's important for an owner to be highly active and participate in his/her community, as it builds a better atmosphere and the members will feel more informed and in-touch, and know that the place is under control.
However, I'm 10th on the top posters list on my forum, , that's one place where I got cut short, I was first for a while but then everyone just over-took me =/
Well, I have over 3100 posts, so my members know I'm there, and everyone knows that I'm the owner, and I actively participate so they can get to know me.
