I was wondering if this is illegal. I got a VB from one of my staff members from my site and he said he got it from a friend of his who bought it and never used it. so if i would use it would that be illegal????
Yes it is. However if you can get the legitimate and original owner to transfer the license to you, then it would be OK. Have him contact sales@vbulletin.com to arrange the transfer.
By the way, why did you put vbulletin.org down as your homepage?
You would be better off asking this in the Pre-Sales forum at vbyulletin.com. But basically, the 85$ license just gives you the right to run vBulletin for one year. After that you have to remove it from your server unless you renew the license. The $160 license gives you the right to run vBulletin forever. Both licenses allow you to download the latest version of vB for one year. After that, if tyou have the $160 license, you pay just $30 per year for continued access to upgrades. With the $85 license you need to pay the full $85 again each year.
ok so if i would get the $160 one then i could have a VB forever and not have to renew the license every year right? but i would have to pay $30 a year to be able to download updates etc... but if i do not pay the $30(i let it run out) then i could still run a VB but not be able to update etc....?
