How to change default path of smilies?

Is there a way to change the default path of smilies? They are currently "images/smilies" but I need them to be "/forums/images/smilies" - I need this because I use VBadvanced Links directory and for images to correctly display in the /links/ folder in which it is installed I need to add the "/forums/" to the front of the path. Currently when I install new smilies after adding I have to remember to go back and edit the path after it saves.
