Sub-Forum Exclusions for New Posts?

Any way to exclude new posts from certain forums from showing up in the New Posts area?

VB 3.8.4 is what we're using. I saw one for VB4, but not for anything before that.

We have a couple of areas on our forum that we do not want to show up in the New Posts list.
