The nature of my forums is pictures... many times a message body is unnecessary.
How can I turn off duplicate post checking so users don't have to enter random text into the msg body ? I don't want to set the minimum post size to 0 characters either because for descriptions I'd like to same-content in various posts as far as the msg body goes. (actually vB won't even accept 0 as minimum anyway) |

vboptions > all settings > go to browser tool bar > Edit > Find > Duplicate and you will find the setting for allow duplicate attached images which I think is what you were asking for. Use that method to find anything you need in vboptions.

1: Duplicate Search Index Information on Thread Copy? 2: Allow Duplicate Attached Images I thought (1) just had something to do with when a user searches the forum for text? (re: Setting this option to yes will cause search index information to be copied with each post in the thread. This allows the copied version of the thread to be searchable.) (2) is just for attachments I'll try setting (1) to Yes (it was set to No) and see if that works. --------- Nope. It's still checking for duplicates. (re: This post is a duplicate of a post that you have posted in the last five minutes.) |

I'm a bit confused about your problem. You say "How can I turn off duplicate post checking so users don't have to enter random text into the msg body" and I don't see what duplicate post checking has to do with the fact you have it set so you must enter xx characters in order to post (message posting > min chars per post).
