I am beyond frustrated at this point as I have done this a number of times before and this time it is just not working for me so I want to make sure this all sounds like I am doing it correctly. I am changing the domain and moving the forum to another server.
I copied and downloaded the database from phpmyadmin and uploaded it on the new site. I zipped down all the files and uploaded them to the new server. I went into the config file and changed the database name, user, and user password to the new one. Put the site link in and I get a Database error. Code:
Database error The database has encountered a problem. Please try the following:

What version of mysql did you have before and what version are you running on the new server?

What exactly is the database error you are receiving? You should be receiving the db error via email if you have it setup in your config.php file. Knowing th exact database error should help troubleshoot the problem as well.

Did you correct your forumpath variable in config.php? Because I've seen general database errors like that occur when a database function isn't defined thanks to a bad include from the forumpath being altered.
Also, upload the tools.php file and run it to correct your site URL and your cookie path data. Just in case. |
