There are no real limits to a database, so getting "big" is not a real problem.

actually, what "BIG" do you think is big?
many persons think that their 500 members forum is big... that a 50 000 posts forum is enormous... which is not. i can generate a 500 000 posts forum in a week and have a lot of space left in my database. it all depend on what is your hosting package and how secure your backups are made... the size of the database is important when you hit half a million posts and you have 500 users online all the time, because you will need 2 or 3 dedicated servers to stabilize your trafic. this is not really related to the database size but to the bandwidth used on a single server... splitting databases is not good for vBulletin, it would even slow it down so much your members would stop visiting. |
