Okay, this may sound crazy, but I want another forum, and cannot afford it.
So I am going to Self Code one!

I was always interested in coding my own forum. I was going to use a SMF base (I emailed them, they gave me full permission to edit it and re-release it, do whatever, as long as I kept a small "SMF" on the bottom of the board.)

I ended up dropping the project though

Just use phpBB or SMF or one of a hundred other free varieties out there. That is unless you are coding one for other reasons than to just run one site. If you just want to toss a site up then why reinvite the wheel?

like Wayne say... but i tell you the real reason why you have to use phpBB or some other forum that have an impex for vBulletin.... when your budget can afford it, you will be able to buy another vB license and import that forum to a real software...

good luck, you might want to at least get your bbcode working in your sig here before coding a whole new forum
