Default Behind the scenes at your board!

Do you hide any forums on your board? I hide the staff forums so only the staff can see them.

I have a moderator forum for mod discussions. etc.

I have staff forums that are hidden. They were not always hidden because always preferred my members seeing the post count. It think some worry that you are bashing in them. Mine are pretty dead other then the occasional reported post. Which is pretty lucky I guess cuz I have a moms site LOL. Pregnant women usually always equal drama. haha About 1 year ago, my forum home page was just out of control long (still is lol) and I hid them to cut down on the scroll. My staff area also has the bad threads LOL. I dont ever get rid of them.. just put them out of site. I have quite a few of those haha

I do have private forums for my VIP members but the post count is visible to everyone including guests.

Yep, I usually make use of such a system as well. Keeps everything organized and easy to find for administrative purposes.

All my 'hidden' forums are completely hidden. We have the Staff forums, which has a child forum for Reported Posts and Trash, a Developers forum where I have a few non-Staff in also to talk about developing site issues, a couple private forums for our video tapers/authors, and another private one for audio tapers. Then we have a few where users will suddenly find themselves able to see because of something they did.

Thats a good idea Lynne...

I might try it out instead of banning users.

I'll add that I let my VIP users access the forum too. Then they get to poke the trolls and trouble makers if they'd like. Its quite entertaining most of the time. LOL

I think you guys misunderstood what mine is about. We have one that suddenly appears when they reach 1000 posts and 10000 posts (two different ones). And, one is in control of a moderator and he will add people, and kick people out, at will. Just a couple of silly forums in our General Discussion area.

We also have one that is for other forum owners/mods that run similar sites to ours. We have a live music tracker on our site, and so we have a forum that we created for other owners/mods on sites like ours to discuss issues of running sites with trackers. For instance, sometimes one of us will get a Cease and Desist from a band, so we post about it in there so other site owners know about it. We also discuss tracker code and features, things like that.
