I can't really seam to figure this one out. I have run a proxy server before my website. Now I run my website without a Proxy server. But recently, I would love to have both. I know there is a way to do it. But I cannot find a straight forward Tut on this. Can anyone shines some light on my problem. Better Yet, can anyone post a Tut here on how to set it up. I don't care how we do it. VRhost, Two instance of Apache, how ever it good.
Thanks Guys in advance. Sorry to bother. |

Why do you want to run a proxy in front of your site?

Honestly, when we have downtime at work, especial Football Sunday, we would like to get to web pages that websense blocks. That's it. Well, and mySpace, YouTube, the usually good downtime fun stuff.

Have you tried using one of the already available proxy servers on the internet? Probably less hassle then setting up your own.

Everyone of them are pretty much blocked.

Do a search for "squid proxy server" on google, plenty of tut's to read from and its easy to install/setup.

I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve by running a proxy in front of Apache. If it's just a case of getting round a company firewall, running Apache on additional ports might be the answer (only 'might' though)

Place it in a subfolder of your site, and be off to the entire internet. (make sure its not against your hosting TOS to run a proxy site) |
