Gang-
Id like to create a secondary subscription reminder for my Paid Subscribers. I want to run one about 14 days before the end of their subscription, then another about three daye before expiration as a last gasp remidner for them. I see in the subscription.php code theres a * 2 and * 3 variable which I believe affects when the reminder is sent. Ive altered mine for * 13 and * 14 to give about a 2 week window. But I want to run another reminder in the scheduled tasks as well. Lets suppose I copy subscription.php to subscription1.php and alter the reminder variable to * 2 and * 3. Then add a new scheduled reminder in the CP to control this subscription1.php cron job. Would this work? Also, I would need to change the text slightly in the subscription1.php, so I assume I would need to create some more phrases. Im a bit less familiar with this and so what would I do to control the text/phrasing in the subscription1.php separate and apart from the default phrasing already set up? Thanks Figured it out. For those who wish to accomplish who are dumb like me and like things spelled out without all the jibberish: 1. Copy subscriptions.php to PC and rename to subscriptions1.php 2. Edit the * 2 and * 3 variables about 2/3 the way down in the php file. These are the days left reminder variables. Change them to the secondary reminder timeframe. I made my second one 14 and 15 so in reality the new subscriptions1.php will remind users the first time about two weeks in advance. 3. Change the paidscubscription_reminder tag in subscriptions1.php to "paidsubscription_reminder1". This is basically to search for the vbphrasing you need to create in CP. 4. Go to Phrases & Languages in CP and add new phrase. You need to add two actually. One is using phrase type "Email Subject Text" and one is phrase type "Email Body Text". Name both phrases "paidsubscription_reminder1" so the subscription1.php can sniff it out. Then add your text you want to show for the subject and body. Save em. 5. Upload subscriptions1.php to the /cron folder. 6. Create a new scheduled task called whatever you want. I called mine 14 Day Subscription Reminder (since the original VB scribby reminder runs 2-3 days prior). Make the task run variables the same as the original VB Subscription task. I set my minute variable to run a cpl minutes later for my new 14 Day Subscription Reminder though just so they dont run at exactly same moment in time. 7. Save and enjoy. I used a test account and whittled the expiry date one day at a time while running both jobs and I got emails from both tasks at proper times. Woohoo. |

Thank I am going to give it a try. But, isnt there also code that is removing expired subscriptions? Wouldnt that harm?
Basically it shoudnt harm since there will be no subscription to expire since first subscription.php will remove it. |
