Default Upgrade Problems

Sorry if this is not the place, but i am totally stuck, and VB support is not being much of any help about this.

I upgraded from 3.6.7pl1 to 3.6.8pl2. I uploaded all the files. Edited the config file to match the old config file with the right DB info. then uploaded the file. Then went to the upgrade URL to perform the upgrade, and all i got was the following error:

Warning: Unexpected character in input: '\' (ASCII=92) state=1 in /home/nikond70/public_html/forum/includes/config.php on line 3

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/nikond70/public_html/forum/includes/config.php on line 3

I look at like 3, and don't see anything wrong with it.

So i am attaching the config.php file to see if someone can help me here.
I am sorry if this does not belong here, but i really need some help here.
Any and all help is appreciated.

Try replacing the first three lines in your config file with the same three lines from another file, like index.php . I have had an issue like this before where an extra, unseen, character was added to one file, so I just replaced it with the same text from a working file.

You config has vB version number 3.6.6 if what Lynne suggested didn't work, you could try downloading a fresh vBulletin from vBulletin.com editing the config.php.new file with your settings and uploading it to your site as config.php.

Maybe that will solve your problem.

Ok, i had to download the file once more, and edit the config file, then re-upload everything once more. My board is now back up and running. I am so glad. I was really and truly going crazy.

thanks to all for the help, and support.
