Default How to tell if a script is nulled?

I have a web server and I have a few forums running on them, a few on VB. Is there a way I can check whether they are using nulled scripts? just want to make sure that they are not violating any policy.

thanks

look on their index.php file and see if it contains copyright information including a liscense number.

Though not 100% sure to work, it'll be the easiest and fastest. Or just report any site you host to piracy reports, and see if you get any emails back complaining about them./

You can never be sure. If you do not trust a site, just report them to piracy. If they have a license, nothing will happen, if they are unlicensed piracy will follow up.

actually, it is not the webmaster's responsability to verify if their clients are using illegal softwares on their sites. if you try to do the police, you are a bad webmaster.

The rules you add to your packages btw are to be respected... no hosting of porn or warez is a good element, so if people share porn or pirated softwares you can act by locking down their account.

The problem is that you have no right to verify the content of each file placed on your server, by personal privacy protection. You can only apply these policies when you have certain proofs or be alerted by complaints from legit owners (ex: you would lock down an account if proven that the guy is using a nullified script AND the author of the script contact you do act on it... not by your own will)...

because you never know... there are a bunch of vBulletin owners who did buy a license after trying it nullified and they did not update their files - but they own a license anyway, so you would be tricked by the nullified files... if you act on that account, you are the illegal one.

Don't post links to boards you suspect on the forums. If you suspect piracy, report it: Report Piracy

soo much of that is wrong... depending on the country in which you reside. In America, for example, 100% of what you said is wrong.

I have to agree with you. If we as webhosts arent supposed to have access to our client's files, then why do programs such as cPanel allow us to? Simply put nowdays the nullers for vBulletin have gotten really good and have gotten it to the point of of it "generates" a license key so it appears that they have a valid version of vBulletin. As said above the best way is to report it to vBulletin and if it is nulled then you would be notified (as long as you own the server. if you don't then your company you rent the server through would be notified).

As far as people who had nulled licenses and then turned around and bought it, I doubt they wouldn't update it for fear of vBulletin going after them for having a nulled copy on their websites.
