I want to use my vbulletin forum as a technical support resource but i want to limit it to our customers (ie. someone buys our product - we give them a login)

Anyone ever set this up? Suggestions on an easy way to implement. Basically it would be a private resource that we grant persmission for. If you are not confirmed as our customer there is no access.

Simply set in your options not to allow any new registrations, and create your user manually in admincp.

Or if you use your vbulletin for your sales, set a new usergroup as customers and only them have permissions to see. Others will only see info about your products

will the thread topics still be viewable? I would like search engine crawlers to still see this stuff...

I am not sure it does that by default. But there are some hacks that allow the display of those threads, like a teaser. And of course, when they click on it, if they don't have permissions they will not see it.
