Close Forums While Displaying Content?

This is somewhat frustrating, but I shall explain the situation. I currently have my forums closed to anyone that is not an administrator. I am re-designing my homepage (non-vB page), where I am trying to include the RSS feed from the forums. However, the issue is that since my forums are closed, I cannot preview/customize the RSS thing as I please.

Is there a way to keep the board disabled from viewing/registration, but still allow me to customize my page?
