Hi all,
I have a limited knowledge of vBulletin and need some advice (i do apologies if this has been covered before, but i just cant find any information that answers my question). We have bought a license of vBulletin and have it all skinned up and ready to go. One of my bosses has asked a few questions along the lines of "i have seen this on one forum can we use it". he particularly likes a quick upload function which i have found at pimpandhost.com. This describes this as a plugin rather than a mod. The reason for not going ahead and implementing this is that i am under the impression that if you implement a mod/plugin and then a patch or update is released, the mod/plugin will be overwritten and what ever was done before will have to be redone in order for it to work again on the patched/updated forum. As we are light on dev time right now we do not want to have to go bvack and do this over and over again. Can someone please confirm whether this is correct or not so that i can provide a definitive answer to my boss as to why we wouldn't do this (or not if i am talking absolute rubbish!!!) Forgot to mention - i am running 3.6.5! If this is not the case, can someone recommend a quick upload function that is any good! Thanks for your time Ian |

Plugins are NOT overwritten during upgrades. Only file hacks are. But the plugin may have to be tweaked a little to work on future versions of vBulletin.

Thanks for the reply. it certainly clears up the confusion.
Does anyone know of any other plugins similar to the pimpandhost.com one that can be used so that i have an array of choices to pick one from. Thanks |
