I noticed on our board a substantial drop in both users and daily traffic and wonder whether or not this is a seasonal and predicted thing which other boards experience and just needs riding out or do I need to look again at more marketing and promotion and SEO stuff?

Spring break was last week (maybe this week in some places?)...end of the school year is coming up soon as well. If your userbase is mostly in high school/college you'll probably see a drop this time of year.

Other then that summer time is coming and a lot of people will be spending more time outside over the next few months.

everyone experiences "seasonal drops" it all depends on when it happens

it's all about knowing your target audience ... knowing your target audience helps to define your marketing
