How do I setup paid subscriptions to apply to the forum

I have a problem in that I am new to vbulletin. I have setup the forum nicely with my own theme and logos etc. Bu the problem that I have is that I have created three subscriptions and installed a payment API which I had developed for this particular forum.

What I do not understand is how to get members to purchase a subscription to say a private forum or a forum within my forum. I cannot seem to get it setup to inform people that they need to purchase a subscription or lock the forum down so that only paid members can access it.

Any help (and I know my question sounds stupid) would be appreciated. I like VBulletin and the whole setup. But the nature of the forum is that essentially we are looking at charging a subscription to access certain parts of the forum, and for the life of me I cannot seem to get this right and I am running out of time. My Payment API communicates correctly and the test passes etc. but I just cannot quite grasp the whole Paid Subscription system in terms of how to enable it for sub-forums or forums within my forum.

You can do this simply by utilizing Usergroups and Forum Permissions to achieve what you want.
