I have not yet set up my vbulletin site, I am still in the planning stage, but I did already purchase it. Here is what I am trying to do and want to know if it is possible and how to go about setting it up.
I am rolling out a group of websites, and they all have a members area. One subscription gets you into the members area of all the sites The subscriptions and members area will be handled by ccbill. I will also have a vbulletin forum website. I want the forum to be mostly a free site, but with some special boards just for members, and some special features just available to people that are my paid subscribers to my site. Now, is there any way to tie the ccbill subscriber database running my other sites member sections into my vbulletin site. Also, since people may bounce in and out of being paid subscribers, i do not want them to lose their messageboard name and history. Meaning, someone signs up to my messageboard but is NOT a paid member. They spend 5 months being an active member of my board, and eventually decide to join my sites and become a paid subscriber. I want them to keep their vbulletin messageboard id and activity history, but now give them access to the members area of the board and special members only features. Now, maybe after 3 months of paying, the user decides to cancel his account, I would like him to be able to still keep his forum identity and history, but lose access to the members area of the forum and the special members only features of the site. Is all of this possible? If not, how close can I get? |

Vbulletin supports this by default. However to intergrate this into the other sites. The simplest thing I would say is intergrated the user systems into VB.

I can't do that, i need to have ccbill handle the members list for the entire thing. I would think there would be a way to script something so that cb can pull it's member info from the ccbill user list.

The other thing you could have them do is register at the free site and enter their userid and password for the subscription from the other site and based on that have it add them to a certain user group.
Just like vbulletin.org does. you cant get to some forums unless you enter a valid vb license. |
