Impex Import: Charset Issues

Hi,

i am trying to import an older vB into a new vB through impex. And the problem is that the old vB had the "iso-8859-1" charset by default. The new one has utf-8. After the import i have a lot of broken characters.

Is there a way to convert the chars during the import, since i NEED utf-8 on the new vB. And another thing is, can users who have 'special characters' in their username still log in after these characters are converted?
