Using vB cookies on static pages.

I have some static php pages on my website, and I would like to place a login box on the template. However, if a member is already logged into the forum, I don't want to display the login -- I'd want to display something else.

How do I go about utilizing the forum cookie on a static website page, so that I can display different things depending on whether a user is logged in or not?

If this question is too complicated or involved to answer, I am willing to pay for the solution. However, if it is just something simple, any direction will be appreciated.
