Here you can see that Danny.VBT created a nice comment system. This is an ordinary comment system where you can add comments, edit comments, and delete the comment if you're admin or the user the comment is for. Unfortunately his comment system randomly will dump a users comments and no one can figure out why this happens. Danny has given up on the project and even taken the file down. There are many of us over on that thread who are still wanting this hack and of course wanting it to function properly. It does no good to have comments sometimes removing themselves from the database, and since he can't figure out the problem he removed the file altogether. I still have the v1.08 comment system in .zip but I'm waiting for Danny to let me know if further work can be done on the hack or if a new one needs to be created. There are a lot of us still looking for this hack. Danny is spending his time working on a new hack, however the new hack doesn't appear to just let you use a comment system, it appears to be an entire myspace type product which is unneeded by many of us. (since my templates are ready to go minus the fact that the comments disappear ever so often.) |

Danny has not given up on it. He is working on the new version which is currently being tested. It will be here shortly.

Ok I'll keep my eyes peeled. I am not opposed to a new comment system one bit. I was under the impression that he was making an entire myspace package where you couldn't just install a comment system. Glad to hear this.

just out of curiosity can anyone else access the link yayvb has posted as for some reason i'm getting a permissions access problem. Intrestingly enough though there were at least two people looking at the issues surrounding the comment system and suddenly we can't access the thread...interesting....

i didn't post any fixes sorry, another member mentioned a code area which i thought may be dubious we had begun discussions on it when the thread got pulled. I'm guessing the author has removed the thread rather than continue to support it, its he right to do that of course should he so wish so if thats the state of play then fair comment. I'll still continue to look at it and if we find a solution (although i've not got an error myself) then it'll get posted somewhere.

yea it doesn't work for 3.5.4. I found out that under each usergroup, there isn't the controls to show it or not so only the admin can see the add comment section.

It's a major addon, so you guys got to give him sometimes. I think he's working on it offline.
