difference between members and active members ?

i was curious whats the difference between MEMBERS and ACTIVE MEMBERS.. how does that work ?
for instance, my site reads
Members: 378, Active Members: 378

Active members have been online in the last 30 days by default i think.

In your forumhome template delete the following code
