This is my first experience with running my very own website. I am still searching for that "perfect" skin.

Please give me some feedback and what looks good, what looks bad and especially where improvements can be made.

You need a 'forums' link in your navbar for your portal and forum.

As for your colour scheme, I'm not sure about the light grey you have in your style. Looks a bit out of place IMO.

I agree, I'm still shopping for skins, that one was a freebie. Tough to find really cool ones free so I may spend a few bucks to buy one.

Look more closely in our style forums, there are some decent free ones available

2 login blocks - remove 1
2 search blocks - although I prefer the one on the portal page you will have to remove it. Having this one and the navbar search will only confuse people. eg. Which one should I use to find {____}?
your calendar block is a little buggy - today is the 1st so why is it at the bottom? view attachment
There's no way of getting back to the portal from the forum
the red-text logo is unreadable -- you need more contrast between text and background
