I seem to have an intermittent problem with showthread.php. Members have reported this, and it happens to me as well.
The page loads quickly, but after loading, the progress bar still shows the page is loading for up to a minute after it has actually loaded. It appears to have fully loaded, as can be proved by pressing the browser's stop button. An example is here, ironically in a thread where it was actually reported: http://www.bowlandcentral.com/forum/...ad.php?t=30459 Try doing a ctrl+refresh to see the effect at its worst. The site loads fast everywhere else, and it doesn't affect every thread, and even then, not all the time. I have some hacks, so have tried replacing: showthread.php functions_showthread.php and all the javascript files with their vBulletin defaults but with no joy. I have created a 'default' set of templates with the default style, still no joy. I am starting to think it's server-related. My posts database is relatively large for a shared server as I have 250,000 or so posts, I was wondering if it was that, but it seems to have no problems on any other part of the site. I have post caching turned off. Has anyone else had this, or know what might be causing it? I wondered if it was related to the unserialize issue, but the page generation time is showing ok so I guess it cannot be that: Page generated in 0.31610394 seconds (94.09% PHP - 5.91% MySQL) with 21 queries |

A probable cause for this could be the use of (external) images in posts (including avatars, etc) which are located on a very slow host.
This could explain why some threads are slow loading and others not. Try to find out if you can isolate 1 user that posted in all slow threads, that might lead you to solving this. I don't think this is a database problem. It might have something to do with the unserialize bug, but my guess is that you would suffer more from this problem then. PS that thread loaded fine for me. |

I am having this exact problem.
The generation percentage is sometimes as high as 99% PHP. Looking at the explain link under debug mode shows 'and *some huge number, like 15 or 20* seconds doing PHP things.' |
