Recently had quite a scare and decided that i need a better way of ensuring that i can restore my forum if anything goes wrong when i try to install a new mod.
Apart from backing up your DB, what else can i do to ensure that i can quickly restore my forum if a mod goes wrong? Assuming that the mod totally screwed everything up. What i have been doing is to copy each template file that i modify and save it in a text file. But the latest incident taught me that it is not enough. What happened was that the mod was faulty and refused to uninstall. So could the experts share some pointers? Tks. |

if you backup your database, the templates are already backed-up ...because they are stored in the database...
if you edit some files, rare in these days, you can simply recover them from the original files found in your licensed archive. so you do not have to focus on the files. if you fear breaking things, contact a coder who could help you. |
