I don't know if there's a hack for that but I can tell you the steps for that:

Add a field named banned in your thread table.
Add a link in your postbit template to ban a user from thread.
And edit your showthread.php as if the user is banned from a thread show no permission to view thread error. If not, show the thread.
That's all.
