Okay here are some requests, of course they are not professional, but they get from my strong wish to make this script better.
- Take out of “Glossary Tools” “Add New Glossary Term” and make it glossary global ( button on the search tab for example) with option to be visible on the forum menu bar (that’s will make your Glossary script much more friendly to knew users, and less clicks is always better).
- Instead of “Glossary Tools” drop down menu make a couple small image buttons “edit” and “delete” and place them on the right bottom corner. This will fit better to general VB design conception. If you will find these ideas attractive I can provide some images for you.
- Remove glossary.php main page (entering page with categories) and instead- from a navigation bar “Glossary” link make drop down menu with categories and maybe with optional “Add New” link
- Make a “last update” optional and editable from admin menu.
- Total amount of terms and numbers for each category will be good to have somewhere.
- Open “Add New Glossary Term” right from any highlighted text in the browser with right mouse click.
- . How about, in the crosslink drop down window instead of this useless phrase:” Click on the link for additional information about this term from our glossary“user will see actual explanation text limited with a certain # of words, of course, with “more”- link to the complete explanation
- I should start with this: this script desperately need “upload image from your computer” function with all capital letters!
- In this case you’ll need to split a glossary table on the two columns (because I hate when image attachment taking over whole row, it’s looks ugly doesn’t matter its left, center or right alignment).
- If image not available you can display their some info like a last update, authors’ username, category… (just like user information- left column from the post on the forums but only instead of user avatar- illustration for the glossary item)
- Appearance. Make glossary appearances optional at least in two styles: VBClassic (Linear Mode) like yours, and maybe “Glossary Mode” which will looks more light and transparency like a real book style.
- Several different meanings for one term, it happens very often… so let’s add second and third opinions to the one term and make its looks official
I’m done for now but I still thinking
