I have images disabled in signatures on my forum because I think it sucks in many ways.
I have an idea for a hack that has better image signature support but don't have the time to implement it myself.
So here's the list of ideas:

Hosted images like avatars
Ability to set size restrictions (dimension and file size)
Ability for users to explicitly turn it images (in the usercp)
different modes for signatures (set by forum administrator): 1) old bevahior; 2) either hosted image or old behavior; 3) image + old
