I just stumbled over this thread

I am currently in the process of finishing a POP3/SMTP Webmailer for vB.
A live beta can be found here:
http://vbdev.area-42.net/wmail.php

(you need to register to try it - obviously, since server and login info is saved on a "per user" basis

)

A few things still need to be done - fine tuning the templates, finishing AdminCP options and I want to add a simple adressbook before releasing it as 1.0

But the current beta already handles mails pretty nicely IMO
