What Jelle is saying is that when you select a pre-defined avatar from the usercp, they will not show up in the first post of any hack thread.

I tested it. I changed my avatar to one of vB.org avatars they provide, and looked at my thread here. My avatar isn't showing, but will display if I use a custom avatar.
