The "Install" link is to inform the hack author that you've installed the hack. This way the author knows how many people are using the hack and can send you updates via e-mail. It doesn't validate the hack installed on your forum, however.

In Admin CP --> Plugin System --> Manage Products can you verify that the XML has loaded? If you can't find the entry then the .XML was not uploaded. If yes, re-upload the file and overwrite it. Double check to see if your template edit showed up.
