I have PhotoShop and Image Ready, just don't know what I'm doing

For the thread status icons I would need different animations for the diferent status. Like just the handle if there are no new posts. Blade coming out if there are new posts. Maybe the blade kinda throbbing if the thread is hot.

For the user ranks it would just be a progression of the blade coming out as their post count goes up. Red and Green blades.

Something along those lines. I am open to suggestions
