vb.org Archive - View Single Post - Pulling data out of VB database for display elsewhere

Not even a code modification, just some external code I want to write that pulls data out of my vbulletin database.

Can anybody point me in the direction of some code that allows me to display something similar to the "highlighted forum discussions" / "latest threads" boxes as seen on sites such as Sitepoint and vBadvanced?
