The navbar can be edited to whatever one likes, so yes, you can put in your custom navbar with all your links in there, should be no problem

I think that could be done with some IF conditionals in the templates, so the stuff you do not want at the loginpage just doesn't get shown.

And yes, I'm going to update all my styles to 3.5.3
