yeah, that's the problem I'm facing now. We're looking to keep the community growing while maintaining its unity. We moved from ezboard because of the lack of customization and if we were going to pay to have 'gold' status we figured we might as well pay for premium forum software instead.
needless to say we didn't realize we'd be losing the ability which ezboard offers where people can have their own forum and visit another forum without having to login again. We thought we'd be able to simulate this on a community forum by hosting small clan subforums underneath the public one, however as you pointed out if you use vbulletin to do this you just end up giving yourself a headache.
We're not looking for some hack to let us host 1000000 independent/unique forums, we're looking for one that will allow moderators more control of the subforums that they moderate so that we (the admins) can delegate more responsibility to them without having to worry that their changes will affect the global forum settings.
