I'm starting to think like 3.5.x....
I had quite a few hacks on my 3.0.X board, and carefully saved them all the right folders on my PC, so whenever I had to rebuild anything after a software update I could upload the vbulletin virgin code, then load the modified php files one by one, comparing the changed code to see what else I needed to edit.
It wasn't rocket science, but it was tedious, and took time going from 3.0.7 to 3.0.8, 3.0.9, 3.0.10, etc. I updated the board to 3.5.1 over the weekend, and at first started to do the same thing. For the mods I had written myself, I went back into the PHP and edited until it was working the way I wanted. Experienced a bug or two, and twice had to reupload the virgin files (which proved it was my error and not jelsoft's), and backtrack.
So, I went through all the mods and tried to see how they could be stored as plug-ins instead, and when I finished this morning, I was amazed to find that everything is now plug-inized (tm) or product-ized, except for search.php (whose changes I couldn't find a way to easily make a plug-in).
Next upgrade or rebuilding time, all I need is to upload all stock files, compare the search.php, install plug-ins, and I'm up and running. I like this 3.5.x thing!
