I'm using 3.5.0 Gold and the hack is working fine. There are no duplicate threads and no PHP/SQL errors. From my standpoint, nothing has changed from RC2/3 to Gold that will adversely affect this hack's functionality.
@Xtreme: RSS/XML feeds must be direct. They cannot be dynamic URLs.
