I solved this problem for myself by clicking "install" on hacks that i have downloaded and tested out or made use of for a period of time.

For all of the hacks that i currently have installed on a live site I have subscribed to the Hack's thread so that it appears in my list of subscribed threads.

I like hitting install so that I can get notices when something is updated, approved, or someone finds a security leak

That is my $.02 anyway
