I would remove the top/bottom bevel on the header/menu as it is not found elsewhere on the site.

You should also remove the empty white space above the center/right column.
You really don't need the '/steel/misc/page_top_right.gif' to display below the header.

I was going to say that the logo idea (notes pinned to backboard) is a good idea but I noticed that you are not using the default vb buttons. I just think it would have tied everything together nicely.
