I would liek to set the board's default editor to the standard editor for new messages over the existing WYSIWYG how can that be done?

Also I really need to know where (what file, code) can I change to edit
the standard editor itself? I want to add an Image to the background of the
Standard editor not the WYSIWYG because that has problems with firefox and IE... please tell me the file and location etc.. I am new so I need detailed locations please..
